Simplicity creates clarity.. Hooray!

As a mature age student reading the simplicity of the De Bonos Hats and Bloom's Taxonomy theory made for some serious doubt and cynicism for its effectiveness. However upon completing the De Bonos Hats task I found ideas that i thought were so good (it is late so I may read it tomorrow and laugh) I could create an app and become a millionaire who also revolutionizes digital learning. Maybe not?

Perspectives account for many benefits into fully understanding 'one' simple question. The truth it seems, is that there is never one answer for anything, meaning there is no right or wrong. The almost back to basics approach of these methods (De Bonos Hats, Blooms Taxonomy, SAMR) reminds me that there is no need to complicate things and as my mother always said, "respond don't react" when answering a question. Removing the emotion and applying higher level thinking is basic but revolutionary. Uusing Wikispaces as a sound board for other thinkers to offer their perspective gave me some humble pie. "I never thought of that" happened quite a bit through the countless readings of other groups. Technology it seems has indeed embedded itself into learning while I have been out in the 'real world' and how much gain I have got out it in 2 weeks is humbling to say the least.

The sharing of ideas, story boards, apps, monitoring students responses and communication between students/teacher students/students creates for limitless opportunity. Higher level thinking, critical thinking, creative thinking in ways that can be applied to almost any learning curricular and more importantly life and work.

The future sure does look bright!

  1. I like the way you look at the methods... I never thought about them as 'back to basics', but you're absolutely right. I sometimes look at these 'pedagogical frameworks' and get caught up in the big words, but it's so true, they really are just breaking down things into small building blocks.
Great insights Ryan. When you become a millionaire I'll be coming over for champagne!
